day after day i'm more confused

If you still have a LJ account (for you DWers) or if you are reading this on LJ, and have ever paid by credit card for anything on LJ——

CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT STATUS PAGE.

Some people's 'automatic payments' have been turned back on* without their consent.

*In some cases, even if they were NEVER ON IN THE FIRST PLACE.

(In related news, I'm just facepalming at the amount of fail here. This latest fuckup by LJ just happens to be actively illegal.)

I turn to my computer like a friend.

Massive security breach at LJ.

As soon as this is over, I'm deleting all former entries from my LJ and I will stop crossposting. This is completely unacceptable.

Wow, LJ fail. (Shock! SHOCK!)

IN A NEWS POST, they wrote "Want to make the most of those mood swings?"

Want to make the most of those mood swings?

How flippant about mental illness can you be, seriously?

I mean, they wrote it as an intro to talking about how you can use mood themes, which, whatever, they want to promote the features of their site, but ... really? REALLY?!

Whatevs. I'll just be over here shaking my head & glad that I'm on DW about 1000x more than LJ these days. If you need an invite code for Dw, hit me up in the comments. (You can import your lj, if you're worried about that.)

Fuck Globally!

Circle the one that doesn't belong: (Porn) (Hardcore) (Bondage) (Faeries)!

So in a move that surprises no one, SUP (totally different from SucksApart) has officially banned from the daily interests lists (see link above for better explanation):

Sex, Boys, Guys, Girls, Fanfiction, Yaoi, Hardcore, Porn, Bondage, Faeries, Pain, Depression, and Bisexuality.

From the daily popular user list.

Jesus f'king christ. Brad, I know you hated running the site, but at least you never did THIS shit to us.

So, March 21st, I won't be posting in protest. I highly recommend you all spread the message.

This diva needs her stage (take me or leave me)

A friend of mine, whom you may know as Javina, has been talking about privacy in the wake of some problems involving her journals being used as ammunition against her new girlfriend by that girlfriend's ex, along with her 10 year journalling anniversary, and in a roundabout way has asked for my opinion, as someone who's mildly infamous for saying exactly whatever the fuck I feel like.

So. Privacy and honesty. It comes down to: Why journal, if someone's going to use it against you? Why not just write things down privately, and keep it for yourself? In the end, I write this journal for myself, but not only for myself as I exist right now. I also write for the me that will be in the future and the other people who will read this entry at whatever time.

Why do it? Because, in my life and in my mind, honesty gets too damn rare. )

L-I-V-E J-O-U-R-N-A-L (and let the whole world know that you can't be ignored)

Was going through my e'mail and found this, my favorite reply to a comment I've made ever, from all the way back in May, the 27th to be exact.

[livejournal.com profile] soshesays said:
Livejournal breeds soap operas. It's like you can sign up for an account with all the good intentions in the world, but over time, it is inevitable that your written life will eventually turn into a melodramatic production. Social hype or subliminal triggers in the layout or something, I don't know, but that's my running theory.

And I'm undecided on whether or not dramatic journals are inherently bad, because, like, life is usually pretty damn dramatic, and if you keep a journal you're probably going to convey that despite your best efforts not to. I think the badness lies in focusing on all the bad drama rather than the good productive positive helpful drama. Mine is all like, "I take meds and fight the system, c'mon and cry for me, everybody." Yours is nicer because you're just like, "Hey everybody, I'm in love with a guy who has a cool accent! WHOOHOOOOOO!!!!" Heh.
