Friends, I have to share with you a wondrous event.

Did I get cured of my mental illnesses? Did I win the lottery? Did I hire a housekeeper?

No, no, and no. But that's okay! Because...

Today I woke up and there were doughnuts.

FINALLY.

(Unfortunately, there were no bavarian creme filled doughnuts, only jelly doughnuts, which are similar in that they both have fillings but dissimilar in the sense that a jelly doughnut is not really what I wanted, and also too sugary in my opinion. SIGH. MY WOES ARE LEGION.

However, if one is not going out and getting one's own doughnuts, and instead is waiting for the universe [or one's housemates, to whom one has been complaining about this for two weeks] to provide doughnuts, one cannot be picky.

I have faith that the bavarian creme filled doughnuts will come in time. [Possibly I will order them online.])

you'll be suprised what you can do with some intelligence and taste

My mom wanders into my bedroom (tapping quietly on my door first & only coming in when I say it's okay). I turn around. (Swivel chair!)

She looks at me.

Mom: If you feel like ... putting on shorts, or a skirt, or some form of pants, I guess, would be a place to start——

I contemplate stopping her right there, but am curious about her request, so instead raise my eyebrows.

Mom: Then maybe you could go out and pick up some ...

My eyebrows lower and I start to turn around.

Me: I don't think I can today, sorry.

Mom: Oh, okay. Love you!

She leaves.

And that is why she's usually my favorite.
