a habitual nervous reaction

erikaWell, it's a good thing my thread at the love meme is going well—and thank you, dingsi—because I just found out that
a) my abscess has definitely recurred (as if I couldn't tell)
and b) I'm probably going to have to have surgery tomorrow to excise it.
On the plus side, I have pain pills. (Shitty ones.) On the negative side, my tit is going to look like Frankenstein's Bride.
The first doctor I saw wanted to admit me. The conversation went something like this:
Doctor: So I want to admit you.
Me (in my head): Oh HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLZ NAH.
Me (out loud, in as flat a voice as possible): . . . okay.
Surgery Consulting doctor: So I think we won't have to admit you today.
Me (out loud, rushed babbling): Oh, thank god. I didn't tell the first doctor but I have a bit of a phobia about being some place I can't leave.
Surgery Consult: -pained smile, looks vaguely uncomfortable like he's wondering "Where the hell did you pick THAT up? Jail?"-
Yeeeeeeah, so. I spent 3 hours at the hospital today and will probably spend another 4 or 5 there tomorrow. Whee.
