I want a puppy so bad my head is going to explode.

Animal shelter tomorrrrrrrrow, for online I have seen the cutest puppy EVER.

In other news, I was seriously tempted to just post an mp3 of "Goodbye & Thanks for All The Fish" from the Hitchhiker's Movie & have that be my final post. Appropos, I think, but a little overdramatic and unnecessary.

I'm compositing, compiling—performance art? seriously?—and carefully considering my answers.

Part of the reason I got miffed is that I've been writing a lot of stories in my other journal, and there I'm rewarded for putting time and effort into a piece of literature. Yet the quality of writing is, on the whole, not that much better than here—and here's only worse because occasionally I post things like "I want a puppy."

So is it because I'm writing about my life, and ongoing events therein, and therefore what I'm writing is explicitly personal?

Is it because, as [livejournal.com profile] the_xtina suggested, my readers/flist reacts to an aura of noli me tangere (don't touch) emanating, regardless of whether or not I consciously claim that vibe or not?

Is it because I make obscure literary references and pile sentence upon sentence without end, ten dollar words and complicated language from reading too many novels and the intricate logic built up by dedicated attempts to be taken seriously as a precocious child in an adult's world, now seen as pretentious?

I'm still smarting/bemused by the idea of this journal as performance art, though.

Part of it is the "Solid piece of work = few comments, two-line POS post = 100 comments" phenomenon, incidentally.

For my input as to why I didn't comment on your "Homg HAPPY" post:

- I've been trying to back off from LJ a bit, since it's been (in general) pissing me off.
- Just commenting "Hooray!" always seems retarded.  I only do that to the posts of people I'm dating, and even then, I have to kick my own ass to do it.
- I'm out of the habit of commenting, really.  Every so often, I go through a bout of "Comment more!".

Gah, I'm late!

Hi lady. :)

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I know the reason I haven't been commenting is mostly that I'm new to reading this journal and I know you through your other journal and the wonders of email, so I get most of my you-quota from other sources. :)

I gotta agree with the_xtina... I don't comment when I haven't got much relevant to say, so "Yay!" doesn't really happen much.

On the other hand, you usually already know my "Yay!" because you talk to me in non-LJ land, so I consider myself to have commented in a spiritual sense.

You know, I wasn't trying to be a douchebag, honest.

But, I've been reading your journal for about two years now, and honestly, I don't think that you and I have one thing in common except that we both have appreciation for the written word, and we're both brilliant.

Seriously. You're scary smart, even though what I read here is fluff.

Fluff is what I come here for, though - and the 'performance art' line is just my take. I'll still read whatever you post, just because it's very interesting and worth my time.

Where's the picture of the puppy? Eee! You'd get 400 comments on that...
