What to do when you're not the hero any more
...stories are mirrors, but they are also windows. They let you see yourself transfigured, but they also let you live lives you haven’t had the chance to imagine, as many other lives as there are stories yet to be told, without once leaving your chair.

I also apparently committed a couple Mixes sometime in a fugue. Yeah, I don't talk about it much unless you catch me in person, but I ran a radio show on the local college network for awhile. Little known Erika fact: my music collection numbers over 23,000 tracks.

Anyway, re: mixes: One got away from me and tells a story, one is full of lullabies and quiet awesome instrumentals, and one is still in development and seems to be full of women declaring themselves to be strong and awesome (but I need more Beyoncé because imho, Run the World (Girls) is a musical wasteland disguised as a 'song' with a great video).

Stay tuned for updates.

This month's small changes:

  • Wearing watch.
Watch beeps at 10AM, 2pm, and 10pm. 10am is my first med-break and my "you should have eaten breakfast by now" alarm, 2pm is my second med break and "eat lunch sometime soon" bell, and 10pm is my "night time meds: also! think about going to bed and ignore it" notification.

  • Observing thoughts.
(oo, hey, a variation on the good old "once he really gets to know me, he won't like me" worry. that's fresh and interesting, brain, good job there, really.)

  • Scheduling in good activities.
Today I sat zazen at a nearby Zen center.

Granted, there's still a constant tensity of encroaching doom above my head, but it seems less doom-ier nowadays.

Until I remember the pre-trial is Friday.

AHAHAHA THE TITLE OF THAT FIRST LINK. Ahem. No, I'm fine. (Oh my gosh.)

Seriously though, that's an awesome set of links. Laurie Penny is always so great! And [livejournal.com profile] gaudior -- omg, I can't even remember how I first found it, but I will never forget their post On Freud's "Mourning and Melancholia".

And I love the video excerpted in Einstein's Camera. I guess it's supposed to be alienating, but I'm just like, look at all these beautiful people going about their lives, who otherwise would just flash by in a blur. ♥
Edited (why yes I did realize hours after the fact that I'd subconsciously edited Freud out *cough*) on Monday, January 18th, 2016 11:43 am (UTC)
