Oh hai.

Did I mention I drove through torrential rain a few days ago?

Here's a pretty map of Iowa showing the aggregate rainfall on the day I was driving.

This is my route:



If you didn't click on the bigger map, the redder the area, the worse the rain.

On one hand, this explains why I couldn't see more than 45 yards/meters ahead of me at times. On the other hand, the route home would've been worse the other way (going north first, and then going east).

On the gripping hand, IT TURNED OUT I DIDN'T HAVE TO BE HOME THAT DAY.

I now want an SGA/ST:AOS crossover where Spock and McKay bond over what it's like to be with deeply damaged men who refuse to admit it.

I think Spock would butt heads with McKay at first over his lack of diplomacy/personal boundaries but then would approve of the logical effect of not wasting one's incredibly limited human time with idiots, especially as McKay is effectively constantly in a crisis situation.
