HERE I AM IN CALIFORNIA.

So excite, very anxiety, much broke; job offer waits for background check to strike.

too much to write about so here are some links to things I made:

GOFUNDME --
true story, ok:
I did not want to have to do this but I am completely effing broke and my peeps were all like "you can ask for money it's ok" and I was like "NO! as an Iowan, I live by grit and my stubborn jaw, with MAYBE some corn syrup for gas" but now I'm in California so I'm trying to fit in by having NO SHAME.

People in my life have gotten incredibly worried when I talk about not having stable housing. Look, loves, I'm not downplaying your concerns in the slightest. Me? I pretty much only get scared by irrationality: heights, jump scares, enclosed places I can't leave, and the murky waters of emotional lotus-fertilizer.

Trust, I know my sense of fear is fucked up, but based on experience, the average stranger is a lot less likely to assault me than someone I date. Statistics bear this out, people, it's not just my shitty choices!

Seriously, I would pay someone to flash Cyanogenmod on my phone.

A lot of money, she says, as the installation continues.

Edited to add: AHA. It IS DONE.

Mwahahahha.

(Now all I have to do is: fucking SFTP how does it work.)

One of my best friends, Anne ([livejournal.com profile] silent_lorelei), has recently suffered a catastrophic data crash. They think her hard drive IS recoverable, but the price she's been quoted is 300 dollars.

She has no access to that kind of money and is barely scraping by as it is. (This was the backup hard drive that crashed, because her REGULAR hard drive crashed less than a week ago. It was a perfect storm—she literally had just loaded her OS/files on the backup hard drive and was preparing to make a new backup and it crashed.)

While I know there are greater tragedies out there more deserving of your money, there's something that's hit very close to home for me and all I'm asking for is 5 or 10 bucks. You can make a real difference in one of my very close friend's life.

Her paypal address is amyers AT greensborocollege DOT edu

Read more about what she lost (scans of family photos that are now lost, etc). Read about how long it would, best guess, take to recover/redownload the things that are still recoverable. Most of what she lost is not recoverable, including novels she wrote in various forms of completion and music/books she legally paid for and downloaded that don't offer redownload capability.

Like I said, I know there are other tragedies out there that are possibly more deserving, but she's one of my best friends and this has really hit her very hard, and 5 bucks is really not too much to ask for, I hope.

I will be donating 100 dollars
as soon as I have any money,
in case you're wondering.

Called financial aid about the $14k addition to my FAFSA. (They did this last semester too, by the by.) Also about stupid "Why haven't I gotten my monies" yet question.

After 10 minutes on hold, got 2nd question answered and then got transferred to an Advisor (who knows why the caps, but they were inherent in the first representative speaking about it) about the $14k question.

Left a voicemail. Ten dollars says they never call me back.
